Seasonal Film subsciption box // review
When my friend Amy mentioned she ordered a seasonal film subscription box from theFINDlab, I was intrigued. She seemed pleased with her first order, so I soon followed suit and ordered my own. I placed my order in late March and it finally arrived in May! In total I ended up paying around $70 including shipping. They offer two tier options with the upper one coming in around $100.
Here is what the website says:
theFINDlab's Seasonal Film Boxes will include handpicked film, processing for those rolls in that season only, and additional surprises, shipped right to your door!
Each Tier will usually have the same amount of film, but the processing credit will be greater in Tier 1 than Tier 2. We also include other film related items, so a box may only include one roll because it comes with another item, but every box will include film processing credit, and both boxes will save you on film and film processing every season.
Our Film Boxes are great for the new film photographer that may need some direction where to start, all the way to the seasoned photographer that wants to get creative!
Below you can see what was in my box.
I have to be honest and admit I feel underwhelmed with this order. The disposable camera is okay, yay. The roll of Pro 400h is intriguing as I’ve never shot it before. As for the other two things included, I’m feeling pretty neutral on them. A dust cloth (?) and the random print of the woman. I wish they included the background information on the print to give it some context, and the dust cloth, I’m not even sure that’s what it is. The coupon code within the box I used for processing ended up saving me around $40 which was very much appreciated!
Nevertheless, I canceled my subscription and may hunt around for something comparable. Maybe the higher tier box had “better” goodies in it, but for what arrived in mine, I can’t justify paying $70 every three months.
